ABC Challenge 'E' - Essie No More Film

Hi all!

So, when I sat down to do my nails I knew I didn't want to use an Essie for this challenge day because that was too easy. Then I found an untried Essie and that resolve went out the window.

I chose Essie No More Film and layered Sally Hansen Snow Globe for the bigger hex glitters, then Spoiled My Saturn Broke Down and finished it off with Essie Matte About You.

I did this in such a hurry that it looks sloppy. No gusta :(. I  like the actual mani though, its just that my cuticles were acting up and being all dry and weird so polish seemed to stick to them. No More Film has such a wonderful formula, I can't believe I haven't tried it before, this was just one coat! I'm pretty sure it's going to work great for stamping too.

Now I'm off to do my nails because I refuse to be naked on my birthday! :D

Have a great day lovelies!

31 Day Challenge Day 13 - Animal Print

Good...evening!

Finally had time to do the animal print mani! For this I used two coats of Cartwheels on the Catwalk from Sephora by OPI polishes. This polish was part of a collaboration with Betsey Johnson and it's a light dusty seafomy green (maybe? I dunno, I suck at describing colors). Then I stamped with China Glaze Deviantly Daring and BM 212. Finished it off with a dotting tool and Spoiled Deeper Dive.

It's peacock nails! Kinda. Meh. Carthweels on the Catwalk is a really pretty polish, and an untried so BONUS! :D

See you in a few hours for flower nails! (Hopefully)

31 Day Challenge Day 10 - Gradients

Hey all!

Apparently, my last post was my 100th! I didn't really notice but I like the number 101 better, so let's celebrate with one of my fave manis from this challenge (so far).

This could get a little long, so I'm hiding it under the jump, MWAHAHAH! Here's a collage to whet your appetite before you click 'read more'.

They Tried to Make Me Go to Rehab, I said "Ok, if it's got this awesome jelly"

'Ello and happy hump day! I'm kinda sorry about the long title. Not a lot sorry, but a bit.

Don't worry, I'm still a proud nail polish addict and not heading to rehab! Although, I've sort of misbehaved lately. August is definitely going to be a NO BUY AT ALL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES* month for me. I got the mother of hauls today at Sally and I'll be showing you pics of that either tomorrow or Friday. If you've been wanting some China Glazes lately, make sure to head to Sally this week as they're all on sale $4.99! That's excluding the New Bohemian and Crackles but it does include Out on Safari.

**EDIT** Apparently, the China Glaze sale is month long for August! Make sure the sale is valid in your area as well before heading over at Sally's official website.

Today I'll be showing you Spoiled Checkin' Into Rehab (3 coats). It's an awesome blurple jelly with flakies that decided to be all blue in my pictures, forcing me to try my hand at color correcting on photoshop. The result is...different. My skin looks waaay off but at least the polish color is more accurate. I say it's "blurple" because, while it is mostly purple, the jelly formula makes your nail tips look blue if you have long nails.

I loved it like this but needed MOAR flakies and, since I'm notoriously indecisive, I layered Essie's As Gold as It Gets on three fingers, then Shine of the Times on my pointer and thumb.

This was also pre-nubs. Sigh, weren't they beautiful? It's really a shame that Spoiled has such craptastic brushes, because some of the colors are really worth it.

Hope you have a good day and you're never forced to have naked nails!

*Unless it's a really amazing sale on a huge lemming.*

Summer Fun Challenge Day 8 - Fun in the Sun

Hey all!

Today is the last day of the Summer Fun Challenge by Lindsey at Neverland Nail Blog. Special thanks and many props to her for putting this together! The rules today were basically no rules. Anything summery goes today so I recreated a summer fave of mine.

You may remember this ancient post where I swatched China Glaze Sun-Kissed and Spoiled I'm So Jaded and said it was the base for some awesomeness. Well I never found those pictures so I just recreated the mani for today's challenge. This also features my first and only (so far) indie polish!

Wee! I have Dandy Nails Colorblind² over each of the polishes and I just freehanded the diagonal stripes with the same polish brush. It turned out to be a little difficult because of the huge Spoiled brush and, even so, every nail ended up looking super thick in the end (totally thought of Linkin Park there).  I got the idea for this mani from this post from Rebecca Likes Nails. Now I that I re-look at hers, it was so clean and crisp...makes me sort of hate mine. Anyway, I seriously need Sticks 'N Stones in my life.

I hope you guys have enjoyed this challenge as much as I have! As always, remember to check the other ladies' blogs for their awesome work!

Swatchtime: China Glaze Sun Kissed and Spoiled I'm So Jaded

Doesn't that title move you? I know, it speaks volumes. So complex, so deep!

So as if you couldn't guess, today I'm showing you China Glaze Sun Kissed and Spoiled I'm So Jaded. I'm almost 92.6% sure I'm So Jaded is a dupe for I'm With the Lifeguard, the neon green in the China Glaze collection. I can't be 100% sure because I don't have both to compare but they just look so similar in pictures I can't justify buying the China Glaze one just yet.

This might look a bit boring as is, (as if neons could be boring) but that's because this was the base for some serious awesomeness that I can't wait to show you. What has two thumbs and loses pictures? THIS GIRL!

Onto the show:

"What in the world is that mess" you might ask, "why are you such a slob Kat?" Well, A) that's mean and hurtful and B) I might have had a little accident while polishing. Thankfully not a lot of precious liquid was lost and I just cleaned up after the pictures. Why didn't I do it before you ask? Well stop being nosy and asking questions, I just liked it that way.

Have a good day and see you tomorrow with some Summer Lovin'!

Some Grungy Neons

Well helloo you!

Before anything else, I want to wish my boyfriend a very happy birthday! We had only started dating this time last year so I didn't really do anything for his bday, heck I barely knew him! But now I do know him, and I do know how lucky I am to have him, so happy birthday hon :)

Now onto the nails! I finally got me some neons to play with. I've been craving neons for the first time in my life (probably all the bloggers' fault for posting pretty pretty swatches) so I got some of the new China Glaze neons and some random ones. When I sat down to polish, however, I could not decide how to wear them! I really think I short-circuited from all the pretty colors, it was just too much for my poor brain.

I tried using two that were close in color for the two-accent-nail look, but it was still too bright for my unaccustomed eyes. I tried layering it over white, not layering it over white, thought of a gradient, you name it, I did it.  Finally it was getting late and I was cranky knowing I had to work the next day, so I just sort of applied them all on a nail. My intention was to recreate this mani by Rebecca but my watercoloring skills are disappoint. Then I just started brushing everything on with my paintbrush, unintentionally using this tutorial from Nails Adored.

My pointer finger is a bit of a *spoiler alert*!

So...yeah, that's pretty much what I ended up with. I haven't decided if I love it or not, I'm actually still wearing it as I type. It's definitely fun and different. The pointer looks different because I stamped with Essie Blanc while experimenting, then switched to Whirlwind White when I decided to go for it. I just wish my stamping would have been straighter, still can't get the placing perfect.

Next time I'm definitely wearing the neons on their own, eye searing be damned!

Oh, the polishes I used were:
  • China Glaze Sun Kissed
  • China Glaze Surfin' for Boys
  • Spoiled I'm so Jaded (or Permission to Proceed)
  • Pop Beauty Mandarin
  • Bettina Jeans Over Dyed
  • BM 201 and Sally Hansen Whirlwind White for stamping

Is there anything specific you're craving this season? Is it a different style for you?
Have a good day!

I like sparkly stuff.

Recently I've come to the realization that I really like sparkly things. How did  I notice this you ask? By way of my boyfriend of course. Lately he's into telling me what I like and don't like. Most of the time he's right though, so I just huff and walk away, never admitting he's right.

It happened as we looked at shoes, I fell in love with these flats from Steve Madden and, aside from them being totally my style, he said "Obvio que te gustan si son brillosas". Which means "of course you like them, they're shiny". After looking at my bank account and deciding against getting them I stumbled on a two for one deal at a store and they're finally mine! I love looking at them while I walk, the little rhinestones are iridescent or holographic or something because when they catch the sun it's like whoa.

Why the babbling? Because the sparkle in this mani reminded me of the shoes. Now, I know I've said this before, but this time I really took a small crapload of pictures so it's collage time! I have to give a shout out to Jen at ThePolishaholic, I totally stole the collage making software from her.

I'm not even telling you the polishes I used unless you follow me after the jump!
