ABC Challenge 'F' - Revlon Facets of Fucshia

Hi all, happy candy day!

Today I'm finally back with day F of the ABC Challenge and I've chosen a semi-untried, Revlon's Facets of Fuchsia! This polished caused a big hooha when it came out due to it being fantastic and glittery in a time when indies were practically non-existent. Thankfully, Revlon heard our cries and it is now a permanent core shade and was renamed 'Scandalous (but since my bottle is Facets of Fuchsia it totally counts for the challenge).

I'm showing one coat over black undies.

This was a semi untried because I wore it once last Halloween, to a dark nightclub where it got zero love and it hadn't been posted on here yet. Application was super easy and I love the simpleness of the glitters! It harkens back to a time before the 18,000 indie brands and glitter bombs.

Now, if you're at all interested in the crapmess my adviser got me into and why I've been gone for a week, click the Read More button below. Otherwise have a great day doing whatever you're going to do, whether it be celebrating valentine's day with a loved one, friends or not celebrating it at all!

________________________________________________________________________________

I'm definitely condensing the story as much as I can so I don't bore anyone that might read this but I'm also just venting so sorry if it sounds rambly!

If you have a freakishly good memory, you might remember my saying that unfortunately I hadn't completed my requirements last semester and had to enroll this semester again (though I was happy to do it since I was getting in some research experience). Well, a couple of weeks ago, I received my graduation certification (like a preliminary diploma). Of course, my reaction was HUHWAT?! and promptly went to the school to figure out what this meant.

What it meant was that I indeed had completed my requirements last semester thanks to a class my adviser had recommended I take and was now no longer eligible for the grant money I was so desperately counting on and, depending who I talked to, now had to pay for this semester because the period for reimbursements had passed. Awesome. It also meant I couldn't use this semester to get my GPA up and was, basically, a little screwed.

Thankfully, I have now spoken with different offices and it should be ok, I do have to give the grant money back but I won't have to pay for the semester and I can (hopefully) reach an agreement with the professor of one of my classes so I can remove an F I had on my transcript and bump up my GPA, though the GPA I graduated with won't change at all.

So, all this rambling to say I officially completed my bachelor's degree in Psychology! A small victory seeing as I have about 6 more years of school left, but a great feeling all the same.

Also, I graduated Cum Laude! If I had finished the semester I could have been Magna Cum Laude which is incredibly infuriating and disappointing but I've given up and am just happy to be out of that mess of a school (it's a great school academically, just hopelessly unorganized).

If you read this you're seriously awesome and thank you <3.

  1. Oh wow, what a mess at school!!! Thank goodness it is all sorted out and you are done, but I can understand the extra stress and anxiety they caused you.... don't they understand school is expensive and so is time??? and all ramifications of misguided advise?

    1. That's what bothered me the most, that the adviser has absolutely no responsibility in this when it was mostly her fault! Just so annoying that to solve anything, they bounce you between like 10 different offices first before getting any answers. Blah, definitely glad to be done with it.

  2. Gorgeous glitter manicure :) I love purples like these.

Also, what a weird story about your study! But luckily it worked out and WOAH Cum Laude? Congrats! What are you studying to become in the end?

    1. Lol, thank you! I am deciding between forensic psychology or clinical neuropsychology. We'll see where I get accepted :D

  3. Your school mess is worse than mine! I transferred in credits hours, and I had to provide transcripts from the other schools. It knocked off almost a year towards my bachelors. A year and a half later, they tell me I need proof of these credits, but they wouldn't let me initially start classes without providing that up front. Now I am scrambling because of pre-requisite issues that were non-existent because of the transfers...UGH!! I COMPLETELY feel your frustration and I TOTALLY envy you because you are done, at least with your bachelors.
Back to the mani...it's amazing how pretty something so simple can be. I've seen all the glitter bombs, and I admit I like a lot of them, but sometimes I prefer just a simple, one-color, sparkle of color. Beautiful!

    1. Oh no! That's the kind of thing that would happen in my school too, weird messes that make no sense. Hope everything gets sorted out for you!

I definitely love glitter bombs too, but sometimes something simple is just what I need :D

  4. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! Cum Laude! Love it!

You know, the same thing happened with Liz a few years ago. Same damn thing!

    As for the mani....

I have passed up on that Revlon polish for a long time, and now I'm saying to myself, "WTF? Go back NOW and buy that polish, woman!"

The difference between then and now?

    Black undies.

Black undies makes the world go 'round, girlfriend.

    Happy Candy Day! ;)

    1. I'm sorry that happened to Liz too! So frustrating. My mom doesn't believe it could take this long to sort something out but clearly she hasn't been to my school and seen the marvelous ways things are handled, lol.

I completely agree, this polish without the undies is not as pretty, it looks muddled.

xoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxoxo and thank you for always commenting! You always put a smile on my face with your comments <3

Glad that you got your school stuff straightened out! I know messes like that are a headache!

    1. You definitely should! It's much prettier than I remembered, I kind of didn't want to take it off.

Thank you! Very happy that I don't have to go this semester too :D

  8. Very beautiful manicure! That black base really makes the glitter pop!

I'm glad you got your situation at school worked out. Sounds like it was a lot of trouble and extra stress though :(

  9. First of all, congrats on your degree! So sorry about the extra trouble, but at least it turned out ok :) You've convinced me that I need Scandalous, after I've been eyeing it for months!
