China Glaze Electric Beat + Stamping

Good morning!

Now that the Black and White Challenge is over I'm back with a bright, spring mani.

I started with one coat of China Glaze Electric Beat. What I can't remember is if I added a second coat or not. I don't think so, because I remember getting really good coverage with one...Aanyway...

Electric Beat is part of China Glaze's spring collection and it's a bright blue creme that leans periwinkle at times. It has a wonderfully buttery application, it's that kind of thick formula in a good way.

Then I stamped with my Red Angel plate 109 and Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Gold Chrome.

Just look at the detail on that flower! I love this design so hard.
I took a bajillion pictures because I just liked it too much. I hope you guys enjoy it too!

Black and White Challenge Day 10 - Manicure of Choice

Hello all!

Today is the quickest post in the history of blogging since I am running out to work. I knew I'd be back too late and too tired to post so here you go!

I really wanted to do something special for this day and I'd been dying to re-try the tape mani. It's still not as crisp as I would like it but it's a lot better than my last try.

I'd also like to thank Mateja for this challenge, it's been really fun and something I had really wanted to try so I'm glad I got the chance finally!

See you all soon with a new (colorful) mani!

Remember to see the other blogs participating!

Black and White Challenge Day 9 - Watermarbling

Oh no! Challenge is almost over! (And I almost didn't post today).

It's been a very very lazy day. Just lounging around watching movies with le boyfriend. He really liked today's nails.

Challenge for today was *watermarbling*! I was really excited for today because I've tried watermarbling just once before and got ok results and was eager to try again.

Black and White Challenge Day 8 - Sponging

Good morning!

Today we're on day 8 of the Black and White Challenge and that means sponging! Not a lot to say, let's get to the pictures (there's a lot).

As always with these types of posts, you get a preview of the finished product and step by step pics after the jump!

NOTD: Essie Lilacism

Good morning!

Just a quick Nails of the Day for today. I have on the lovely Essie Lilacism. I'd been feeling in a springy mood and wanted a nice soft lavender shade since what I had was Essie Nice is Nice which leans a little pinker and doesn't seem to agree with my skin tone as much. That was long.

Sorry for the random polish on my finger, I noticed it editing the pics :(

The formula wasn't bad per se, just not as good as the newer Essies I'm used to. I did one thin coat and a second thicker coat which covered well but on some nails I had to add a third thin coat to cover bald spots and unevenness. Looking at the pinky now it could have used that third coat.

Have a good day!

Black and White Challenge Day 7 - Black and White with Glitter

I can't believe we're almost done with the Black and White Challenge! Today is day 7 and we have to do Black and White with glitters. Now I only really had one idea, which is a bad thing about me, I usually only get one idea and if it doesn't turn out like I thought I'm stumped on what to do. And that's what happened today.

I don't have a lot of glitters because I just abhor (it's a word!) the removal. It makes me sad sometimes because I see all this sparkly goodness in the bottle and pictures but a couple weeks ago I found the China Glaze Some Like It Haute glitter (I used it previously in this post) on clearance so I bought it. I've also been itching to try my hand at tape manis, specifically stripes, but I don't really like applying top coat twice in one mani because I love peeling my polish too much and this doesn't help. Finally I caved with the idea for this challenge.

I started with two coats of white (Sally Hansen Hard to Get) and let that dry overnight, then taped and sponged on the black glitter. Black and white with glitter!

Now I don't really love it. My taping was uneven and the texture difference between the polishes drove me a little nuts, but I do still like it in theory so I'll probably try it again but with regular polishes. It probably would have helped to apply glitter first, tape, then apply the white but, like I said, I didn't want to deal with the removal.

Thank you for looking as always and remember to have a little look-see at the other blogs participating!

Black and White Challenge Day 6 - Color Base with White

I'm back again for another installment in the Black and White 10 Day Challenge! As you know, this challenge was by Mateja from Purple Glitters and Dolores from Colorful Bottle. Today we had a color base with white and only one idea popped in my head.... St. Patty's nails!

Since I haven't really had a chance to do St. Patrick's nails I settled for this simple design. This post will be a little long so make sure you stick around after the jump for more pictures!

Black and White Challenge Day 5 - Color Base with Black

'Ello! Welcome back for another Black and White Challenge day!

Today we had the task of creating a mani with a color base and black accents. This is much more up my alley, with this challenge I've discovered I don't necessarily love black nails. They look so chic on some people, maybe it's just my nubbins.

For this look I started with two coats of Wet 'N Wild's I Need a Refresh-Mint. I absolutely love this color! I still want China Glaze's For Audrey but this satisfies that for the time being. Now, about the brush...I know a lot of people hate it because it's so big and floppy but for some reason it gives me near perfect application and a very clean cuticle line! I rarely had to do any cleanup and it was a one coater on most nails, but maybe I was using a thicker coat. Then I fell asleep and ruined it. The mani was so full of sheet marks on every single nail that I almost just scrapped it all, but I really enjoyed it so to try to save it I sponged a very thin layer of China Glaze's Some Like It Haute, a charcoal black glitter with holo glitter mixed in.

What's this?! No sheet marks? Oh Seche Vite, you always hide my imperfections! Except you also shrunk my mani from the cuticles and the sides. Oh well. It looked so girly and clean but I though it didn't have enough black for this challenge so I stamped with Wet 'N Wild black creme and BM-208.

I'm really digging the finished look! My mom didn't adore the plain sponging but she loved the stamping. I think she thought my cuticles looked dirty or something.

So there you have it! We're officially halfway through the challenge and I'll be very sad the day it's over. I've enjoyed seeing everyone's manis and feeling like a part of something.

As always, be sure to check the other blogs participating:

Black and White Challenge Day 4 - White Base with Color

Beware of the fail ahead! You should probably avert your eyes, it's not pretty.

Still here? Ok then. Today is day 4 of the Black and White Challenge from Mateja at Purple Glitters and Dolores at Colorful Bottle. The mani of the day was white base with some color and I thought of watercolor nails! Mind you, this only happened because I failed hard at creating the mani idea my boyfriend gave me.

Behold!

Sorry for the less than stellar cleanup!
I started with two coats of Sally Hansen Hard to Get and I was really liking the stark white nails! It made them look longer somehow. I almost didn't watercolor at this point. I should have listened to myself.

Oh. They look like clown nails or something. I tried to replicate Chalkboard Nails' look but I didn't have the same colors and I just don't like the ones I chose. I'm not even 100% on which color is on which nail because I changed them up between nails when I saw they didn't spread or mix like I thought they should. The general idea though was red, yellow, blue and purple. A lime green snuck in there on one nail too to see if I could salvage it but, alas, it was too late.

I'm sorry I don't have anything better to show you but after a day of dress shopping I'm just too beat to redo them. Not to mention that I already missed the challenge "deadline" on almost every time zone (I think?).

Remember to see what the other ladies participating came up with! You probably need it after seeing mine.

Black and White Challenge Day 3 - Black Base with Color

Hello all!

Today as part of day 3 of the challenge we have black base with color! Now, I don't really know if this is cheating or not, but I'm actually really in love with it so I hope it slides!

Keep reading for the polish breakdown!

Illamasqua Muse and flakies!

Happy tuesday! I meant to have this up yesterday but le boyfriend didn't go to work and he kidnapped me. I regret nothing, hope you guys understand ;). We also started at the gym yesterday for my cousin's wedding so we shall see how I feel during the rest of the week!

Now this is going to be a monster post again because I loved every layer of this mani so you'll see the finished product now and most of the post under the jump!

Black and White Challenge Day 2 - White on Black

Hello all! I know I said I would have regular posts in between but I wore the past mani until I had to take it off to do this one so I had nothing to show you until now. Onto the nails!

Today's task was white on black. I had a couple of ideas but they coincided with future days in the challenge so I just kept it simple for today. I used Wet 'N Wild black creme and white acrylic paint.

I ... don't know what this is. I wanted stripes but they didn't come out clean enough, so I removed it. Didn't really want to stamp so I just tried it again. Maybe it looks tribal? Shoelaces? You tell me

Remember to check the other girls' blogs to see their (better) ideas!

Black and White Challenge Day 1 - Black on White

Finally! This was difficult to photograph and I really missed my sunlight pictures, the newer ones under artificial light make my skin look really yellow. I managed to snap two not fantastic ones in sunlight at least.

Either way, onto the mani. This time I used Sally Hansen Hard as Nails in Hard to Get for the white and Wet 'N Wild black polish with RedAngel plate 106.

I was actually dying to make this pattern work, I'd tried it previously and it never picked up neatly so I'm pretty proud of this effort! I'm also loving the contrast, from afar it looks like zebra print which is neat too.  The only problem was that every single picture I took looked blurry because of the pattern or maybe I was just having a shaky day.

See you on March 4th for White on Black! (And some regular posts in between as well)

I'm doing a challenge!

I just joined the Black and White Challenge by the lovely Mateja at Purple Glitters and Dolores at Colorful Bottles! It was very last minute since they're starting today with the 10 manicures, which will be posted every 3 days. I'm working on the pictures of the first mani now and I'll have them up later today. I'm actually very excited because I loved looking at the various bloggers do the 31 day challenge but I feel this one is more realistic in terms of the posting schedule.

There's also some other lovely ladies participating so you'll be able to see much more creative ideas than mine:

See you in a bit with my first mani!

Sinful Colors Cinderella vs. Revlon Blue Lagoon

Today I have a comparison for you guys. It's my first one so be gentle! Lately all the drugstore buzz has been about Sinful Colors Cinderella. It's a beautiful light blue with a strong pink shimmer but when I first saw the swatches it reminded me of Revlon's Blue Lagoon (minus the pink) so I decided to pass on it. Then came along the Walgreen's sale and I saw Cinderella there for just 99 cents and I couldn't resist!

Similar, no? See more pics and the verdict after the jump!
