KBShimmer No Whine Left and Clearly on Top Quick Dry Topcoat Swatches and Review

Hi all! That title was a mouthful. (That's what she said) (Yes, I set myself up for a joke. I get lonely)

A while back, KBShimmer debuted a new quick dry topcoat they developed to avoid the common problem with Seche Vite, the dreaded shrinkage. It's also meant to smooth over glitters so you no longer have a bumpy surface without having to add multiple coats of top coat. In the images they shared on their facebook page, they showed the top coat over No Whine Left (which was a huge lemming for me) so as soon as the top coat was available I snapped it up and No Whine Left came home with me too. So today I'm sharing a mini review of the top coat and swatches of No Whine Left

First, let's start with the swatches. No Whine Left is a really unique color combo, it has a plummy base with bright blue and pink glitters in various sizes. It applied easily and it was opaque in two coats with no clumping or gooping.

After painting my nails, I topped all my nails with Gelous + another top coat except one nail that had two coats of the KBShimmer top coat. How did the KBShimmer fare against the glitter taming powers of Gelous?

It's exactly the same! Unfortunately, two coats of top coat or Gelous + top coat weren't enough to completely smooth No Whine Left, which was unexpected since it didn't look like it was going to be a hungry glitter but there you have it. The KBShimmer also dries super quick. I'm still collecting new top coats for part 3 of the top coat comparisons but I can tell you it's close to Seche Vite and no shrinkage at all. The only thing I still have to see is if turns all goopy like Seche at the halfway mark. Rest assured, I'll let you know if anything turns sour but as of now, me + KBShimmer top coat = <3.

You can find KBShimmer polishes and their top coat on their site here. For international buyers, you can buy through Harlow & Co, though I believe they still don't have the top coat available.

Have a great weekend loves!

  1. I am still not sure I like the basecolor of this polish, but the glitters are pretty! Too bad it's so gritty!

    1. The color combo felt a bit odd while I was wearing it but I still liked it. Just the grittiness that was disappointing since I never had that experience with KBShimmer.

  2. Great post Kat. Love No Whine, and I'm not big into wines. Goes to show you the power of bling, right.

I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for a SV alternative. Will pick up a bottle of KB's version when next I buy polishes.

I've tried Seche, Poshe, Butter London Hard Ware, Cult Nails Wicket Fast, and Sally Hansen Mega Shine.

At the current time, SH Mega Shine is my favorite backup to SV. The others just didn't ring my chimes.

    Looking forward to Part 3!

    1. Lol, I'm not a huge wine lover either but I have been known to whine every now and then, especially if I broke a nail ;).

I'm thinking of getting Mega Shine to add to the roundup for next time, I've been hearing good things about it.

  3. Ooh that's really pretty :)
    I use Sally Hansen Insta-Dri as a Seche alternative. It's great :D

    1. I've been using the Insta-Dri too and I agree, it's pretty great! It's also going to be in the next round of comparisons :)
