I like sparkly stuff.

Recently I've come to the realization that I really like sparkly things. How did  I notice this you ask? By way of my boyfriend of course. Lately he's into telling me what I like and don't like. Most of the time he's right though, so I just huff and walk away, never admitting he's right.

It happened as we looked at shoes, I fell in love with these flats from Steve Madden and, aside from them being totally my style, he said "Obvio que te gustan si son brillosas". Which means "of course you like them, they're shiny". After looking at my bank account and deciding against getting them I stumbled on a two for one deal at a store and they're finally mine! I love looking at them while I walk, the little rhinestones are iridescent or holographic or something because when they catch the sun it's like whoa.

Why the babbling? Because the sparkle in this mani reminded me of the shoes. Now, I know I've said this before, but this time I really took a small crapload of pictures so it's collage time! I have to give a shout out to Jen at ThePolishaholic, I totally stole the collage making software from her.

I'm not even telling you the polishes I used unless you follow me after the jump!

I've been seeing these kind of accent nails in a couple of places, mainly at ChalkboardNails, and decided to give them a try. I chose first the creamy buttery lavender goodness that is Illamasqua Jo'Mina. Hands down one of my fave polishes in my stash because of the color and the formula. It's just perfection. Must swatch/wear this on its own soon. Then I chose the accent color and after MUCH deliberation, decided on Spoiled Toad-ally Amazing. Please excuse this first set of pictures, they were taken at the office under crap lighting, but I wanted to show you the colors on their own.

Then I layered Spoiled Use Protection, which I'm pretty sure is a dupe of Sinful Colors Nail Junkie. I *loved* (see those asterisks? that means I'm serious) the color it gave Jo'Mina. It turned it a bit bluer and just shiny awesomeness so I snapped a horrible shaky pic that could capture the difference.

I'm trying something. Don't judge me.

I was also going to stamp on it but I couldn't bring myself to cover it up, then I couldn't find the time to sit down and do it so I left it as is. I wore this for a good 4 days before I was itching to change it out, which is a lot! Also, I'm still dealing with my peeling right hand so I'm only keeping polish on for 3 days at a time max. Then I remove it and file them a little bit to try to keep the peeling under control.

I'm still not 100% sure I love the two accent nails, but it might be the combo of colors I chose. Either way,I'll keep experimenting and decide later.

What was the last mani you did that pushed you out of your comfort zone? Did you love it or hate it?

As always, thanks for looking!

  1. Steve Madden shoes...sigh.

I love the glitter on top. The colors are very nice and look good with and without glitter.

    1. Yess, sigh. Steve Madden is definitely one of my favorite brands right now. And getting them on sale makes me skip out of the store!

      Thank you!

  2. Sparkles! They make everything better, boys just don't understand. Try the two accent nails with a lighter shade of the same color as the other nails, maybe you will like it more if it is more subtle?

Hmm last thing that pushed me out of my comfort zone was probably the failtastic jelly sandwich I tried and immediately removed. It was sooooo bad, I have no idea why I can't do them.

    1. I thought of that, but I really wanted something contrasting. I'll definitely have to try subtler next time to see if I like it better.

Aw! Sucky. It's probably the polishes fault. I'm sure you didn't do anything wrong :D

    1. Yes it is! What I love most about it is the formula, for some reason it makes your nails look flawless.

  4. I must also confess to being a glitter-addict. If it sparkles, I'm instantly drawn. I also have a weakness for shoes and polish. Sigh. I've never seen Spoiled by Wet n Wild. I wonder if it can be found in Canada...
