Holo Mermaid Gradient! (Pic Heavy)

Hii evrybodah (Said as Dr. Nick). I'm coming to you live from HoP headquarters!

Today we are celebrating my 50th post! Not a lot, but it's a nice round number. So how are we celebrating you ask? With some pretty epic pic spam. That may be a hyperbole but it's way more pictures than I've ever featured here (I think, I haven't checked). My point is, this will be long.

I did this the night before going on the boat trip, when I wanted something mermaid-y to reflect all the swimming I would be doing (Fun Fact: I sing Ariel's Part of your World in my head when I'm underwater). The polishes I used were Illamasqua Nomad, FingerPaints Winter Sky, Essie Go Overboard, Spoiled Use Protection (yes, again) and Hits Hefesto.

Like I said, there's a ton of pics, so you'll see this pretty little collage first and then you have to follow me after the jump to see the rest. There's candy for you after the jump...

I lied! Anyway, like I said before, I wanted something mermaid-y but I didn't really know where to start. I had just gotten Nomad and it was screaming that it wanted to be worn, so I decided on a gradient. I don't think this is a combo I would have thought of if it wasn't for my wanting to wear Nomad, but I think it turned out pretty neat.

Then I needed something sparkly so I layered Use protection.

Now the idea was to stamp the scaley looking image from RA-111 but I kinda didn't want to cover all the prettyness I'd done. Then I had a thought "DERP! You should have done something with a holo base!" but it was too late, I liked what I'd done too much to remove it. I applied top coat (shrinky Seche Vite) and tried to stamp with Hefesto, but it wasn't showing up like at all, so I just layered it on top.

I took these shots while at the beach as to inspire jealousy if possible. And to show the holo better, natch.

You can kind of see the glitter under the holo in this pic

I realize it might have inspired more jealousy if I had taken these during the winter months when everyone is cursing the snow but whatever. Also, you have no idea how many pictures I took and how hard it was to decide which ones to post.

In conclusion, I loved this mani a lot. The glitter was almost invisible in the sun with all the holo shine but, indoors it was the glitter's turn to sparkle so I always had something interesting to look at. They chipped rather quickly but that's to be expected with them being so waterlogged all the time.

I hope you liked these as much as I did! I'm off to pick off my peeling nose :(

  2. Absolutely gorgeous colour combination. I love it! I can see why it was so difficult to pic just a few photo's.

I love these! Both versions are wicked, I love when you get a shift and it looks different depending on where you are. I've been lemming Hefesto hardcore lately. Damn you and your awesome beach macro shots! I do indeed has a jealous.

    1. Aw I'm sorry. Life lesson: it's almost a never a good idea to follow people when they offer candy. But here, have a bon bon :)

Sorry, I'd been lemming Hefesto for a while waiting for it to be available on Ninja Polish, but I could wait NO MAS! So I caved. Caving is good. Feels nice.
